Working virtually, and in-person with refugee centres across Canada, IBBY Canada’s Reading with Newcomer Children program brings together volunteers and immigrant & refugee children to share a love of reading.
CHALLENGE
When International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), Canada first approached us for their logo design our thought process was to keep the design bright, clean and joyful. Akin to the brand’s own values.
APPROACH
Our team did several brainstorming sessions on how can our design convey IBBY’s messaging of connecting volunteers with immigrant and refugee children to share a love of reading. The clearer brief helped us to come up with the brand’s tagline -Let’s fly together! | Envolons - nous ensemble!
Keeping the core Mission of the program that is to bring books and children together, we arrived at a singular message that was strong and fun.
A clean and minimally designed dragonfly with bright coloured wings was created to represent the joyful nature of children and their ability to soar high with their imagination. That basically summarizes IBBY Canada’s Reading with Newcomer Children program: Giving wings to young newcomers to fly high in their new life journey.
